One Last Linen Moment: Saying Goodbye to Summer in Style

Hello guys!

Autumn has officially arrived, and I’m not going to pretend I’m ready. The air has that crisp edge, the light has gone soft and golden, and my linen is staring at me from the wardrobe like a dog that knows it’s not getting a walk. So today, before I retire it for the year, I’m giving it one last outing. Consider this my farewell tour for the 2026 linen season.

About my Look

I wanted something that says “summer isn’t over yet, but I’ve noticed the calendar.” The answer was a navy linen shirt-jacket over beige linen trousers. Navy and sand is about as timeless as combinations get, and it works beautifully in that in-between weather when mornings are cool and afternoons still can’t decide.

The jacket is the star of the show. It has that relaxed, chore-coat attitude: patch pockets, soft shoulders, and none of the stiffness of a traditional blazer. It’s tailoring that doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is a quality I admire in both clothes and people.

The Shirt and Tie Deserve Their Own Spotlight

This is where I want to slow down, because the shirt and tie are from OTAA, and honestly, they made this outfit.

Look at that lilac shirt up close. The fine micro-check pattern gives it so much depth. From a distance it reads as a soft, clean lilac, and as you get closer the weave reveals itself. The fabric feels crisp and refined without being stiff, and the collar sits exactly the way a collar should. Lilac is also a brilliant autumn-adjacent colour. It’s softer than the usual white or blue, and it plays beautifully with navy.

Then there’s the tie: navy silk with white polka dots, a classic that never goes out of style. The quality is amazing, and I say that after wearing a lot of ties. The silk has a rich, textured weave with a lovely subtle sheen. The knot sits full and holds its shape all day, and the dimple formed without a fight. When you zoom in, the dots are crisp and evenly placed, which is the kind of detail that separates a tie you wear from a tie you treasure. Pairing it with the lilac shirt gives the whole look a polished, slightly playful edge.

Honestly, if you’re building a shirt and tie collection that will last, OTAA is a name worth knowing.

Finishing Touches

  • Suede tassel loafers in taupe. Suede is the first signal that autumn is coming, and it ties right into the beige trousers.
  • Black leather portfolio. Because a gentleman should always look like he’s on his way to an important meeting, even when he’s just going for coffee.
  • Dark rectangular sunglasses and a steel bracelet watch. Sharp, understated, and just enough attitude.

Styling Notes for You

If you want to borrow this look, here’s what I’d keep in mind:

  1. Wrinkles are the point. Linen is meant to crease. Embrace it, because that’s where the charm lives.
  2. Keep the palette tight. Navy, sand, and one soft accent (lilac, in this case) is all you need.
  3. Let your tie do the talking. A refined polka dot adds personality without shouting.
  4. Swap in suede. It’s the easiest way to nudge a summer outfit into autumn.

Goodbye, Linen. See You Next Year.

This is the last linen look of the year, and I think it’s a good way to close out the season. Next up are wool, cashmere, flannel, tweed, and all the textures I secretly wait for all year. But for today, I’m soaking up the last of the warm light, one crease at a time.

Which fabric are you most excited to bring out for autumn? Tell me in the comments.

Stay sharp,
